Art
.
As well as being a celebration of the self,
Signed99 comments upon the changing way
in which our identities are stored,
proved and communicated.
.
Signed99 uses the signature
as a form of portraiture.
The shapes and lines
of signatures can
carry suggestions
of our character.
.
Like a traditional portrait,
Sigend99 balances what is hidden
and what is revealed.
Signed99 involves taking an everyday visual
and then placing it within its own space
and set of ideas.
.
Like the conceptual pioneers
of the early 20th century
with their "ready-mades".
Here, the signature is employed
as the ready-made.
.
We recreate a part
of the Signed99 artwork ourselves
whenever we write our name,
thereby making the work both
universally inclusive
as well intensely personal.
.
Signed99 is
aesthetically inspired by Mondrian,
conceptually inspired by Duchamp,
and technically (and emotionally)
inspired by van Gogh.
.
.
Pricing
.
Signed99's pricing structure
is part of the artwork.
With each commission
being individually numbered
and individually priced..
